As the veil thins for the night...

Not a big post today, getting ready for the start of NaNoWriMo tomorrow. For now, since it's Halloween, All Hallows Eve, Samhain, etc.. here are a couple of poems I've written about this wonderful season.
Halloween

The veil thins between this world and the next
Things start to happen that no one expects
The Barrier breaks as the sun dips from sight
And the world descends into an eerie night

Spirits once again roam free
While pretend ghosts and goblins seek candy
And as they run from door to door
The supernatural becomes real once more

You see and hear things you cannot accept
But you know your mind will never forget
Sights and sounds you cannot believe
Are yours to behold on All Hallows Eve.

Samhain

The colours change to autumn’s best
As nature prepares for winter’s rest
Hearth fires cast a warming light
Friendly beacons in the coming night

The harvest is ready the hunting is done
The festival starts as songs are sung
Torches alight and bonfires burn
To mark once more the season’s turn

The horned one returns to join in the feasts
And watch the land while his lady sleeps
‘Till springtime heralds the return of her reign
The change of power we celebrate at Samhain.
